Afghan women's advocacy project: in 2021, we supported 208 afghan women writers, journalists, activists, and academics through direct funding so that their basic needs, such as food and shelter, were met as the taliban took over afghanistan and forced many women into hiding or fleeing the country.

Free women writers is a non-partisan, and all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization composed of writers, students, and activists based in afghanistan and the diaspora and working for a more equal and just afghanistan. Free women writers works to improve the lives of afghan women through advocacy, storytelling, and education. Using traditional and "new" media, events, advocacy campaigns, and partnerships with other organizations, we've created a platform for afghan women to tell our stories and demand our rights. We reach more than 100 thousand people online and thousands more offline and have published the work of more than 140 writers in afghanistan and around the world. In 2016, we launched the daughters of rabia scholarship to support a new afghan woman's higher education every year. In 2021, we supported 208 women writers, activists, journalists, and academics who were fleeing or hiding from the taliban so their basic needs, such as food and shelter, were met.
